Don’t Choose A Dead End Road

When you are choosing your way in life, on the financial side, you have to take a wise decision and think about the future. This is available for everything, the highschool, college, university, job or business. What do i mean by a dead end road is a point when you don’t have an expansion possibility and your monthly earnings cannot increase anymore or increase extremely slowly.

Take a look at some good decisions taken by well known business men, like Sergey Brin, Larry Page and others. If they were choosing to get a job they were probably working from 9 to 5 for a decent salary and had a monotonous life. But they risked and wanted more, so took the good decision.

Now i am talking from my own experience. Three years ago i started learning to code and design and worked as a freelancer, but i was working a lot and had no chance to increase my earnings, because the prices are quite fixed and i was paid on a hourly basis. I was probably able to increase my hourly earnings by learning more and improving my skills, but not much.

Then i said why should i build websites for others so i will get a small price while they will earn much more with them and not build them for myself. And so i started making a few websites and spending less time working as a freelancer. My earnings decreased a lot, but the potential was much higher, so i kept doing it until i stopped working as a freelancer at all.

I started to learn about SEM, Social Media, Affiliate Marketing and along with building more websites and improving the current ones, I’ve done some consulting for other companies and earned much more than i did from freelancing. Now I’m very happy and i really think I’ve finally chosen the good road.

So the point is to think about the potential of what you are doing or planning to do, set some goals and start working. It won’t be very easy in the beginning, but done right, every business should expand.

Set goals

When you are young, everyone asks you what job you want when the time will come for one. And the most kids answer this, because they have goals and dream to have a great job. And some of them really work for it and try to get that job.

That’s great because if you don’t have such a goal you will probably have a job that requests much work and low wage and won’t probably bring you any satisfaction.

Set your goal

So, when you work on something ( e.g have a website or job ), set a goal, like being promoted after 6 months or earn $xxxx / month after 9 months. If you set this goal and you are serious on it you should see how far you are from reaching your goal, what you have to do for it and the satisfaction of reaching it.

Don’t give up

Let’s say your goal was to earn $15,000 monthly with your website and you are only earning $950. You will probably give up saying it’s impossible and live with it. That’s definitely not good, because maybe you have chosen a wrong niche, haven’t worked enough or your goal was too high in a very short time. Think of all possibilities and extend your time, but work more this time. you should never give up, but only think what stopped you from reaching your goal.

After you reached your goal

Well, if you managed to reach your goal, you should stop working or thinking that’s enough. You always have to dream higher and set another goals and follow what i wrote upper in this post. Think about the billionaires, they don’t need money and can’t spend the money they have, because they have too much, but are still working and starting businesses.
Earlier impossible, domain name forwarding is a pretty common occurrence these days. That means even more progress in webhosting. Initially with domain registration, things were thought final. Now almost every web host, not necessarily the best web hosting, offers the option of moving the domain ownership, and co-hosting as well. Never has web page hosting been this easy. Using marketing strategies like pay per click and per inclusion is a piece of cake now.

How to start your own web business

Most people that start their own website or blog usually begin with a low budget and don’t choose a niche, but come into direct competition with reputed websites, because they see their success and think it’s easy.

If you want to start your own website, first think that the big, reputed websites have high budget and experience, that’s how they became successful. It’s not easy and it’s almost impossible to start by yourself a website that in short time will be valued at millions.

For a beginner, the best solution is finding a niche and learning the basics there, along with gaining experience. Niches are more easier to get successful into than generic websites and can also be very profitable.

Also, try to make a website that you like to take care of, write content on and make sure you like the subject, so you won’t get bored of it or write content just for the money you might earn, because you will probably earn nothing this way.

So, the main idea is, when you start a website think big, but start small.

What makes your website successful ?

A few years ago, where there were much less blogs than now, a website made fast, with some copied content from here and there or with a writer that was showing no interest could bring you lots of money. Now, you need to do a lot of things to make your website successful. I will not rewrite the tips you can already find on my blog, but things behind scenes, that makes a blog a bit different than other, tips more related to copywriting and to you, the blogger or webmaster.

Your reader is your client

You have to thread your readers well and fulfill their requests. Well, you don’t have to jump off a building if he asks you too, but neither you should answer with “that’s none of your business” if he asks you how did you start your blog, made it successful or other things he may be interested in. You don’t have to tell them your biggest secret, but to act well.

Keep in mind that your reader is your client, because he may click an ad, he counts on CPM ( cost per mile ) banners, he may buy an affiliate product and if he doesn’t do it this time, he may do it next time, if you convince him to return.

Blog first for pleasure, then money

You have to enjoy what you are doing, not to say “damn, i have to post on my blog again”, because your readers will read that into your posts, there’s a difference between blogging by pleasure or obligation. For example, I have some satisfactions when i see comments, more feed readers, more traffic and then I look at the money. Don’t get me wrong, money are important too, but you have to enjoy your job and make your readers enjoy what they are reading too.

So choose a niche you like and start writing about it, don’t just start writing about pills because they monetize better.

At any time, success is far away

You will probably reach a specified amount of traffic, reader or income where you say your website is earning you enough and it’s enough for you so you won’t work any more to improve it. That’s definitely wrong, because an unmanaged, not updated website or blog is dieing and it will be very hard to resuscitate it. It is better to keep working or hire someone to manage it, with you being a web CEO, so you don’t have this problem.

I have recently read John Chow’s Make Money Online Ebook and i can say it’s one of the best books i’ve ever read. He hadn’t tried to write hundreds of pages full of unimportant stuff, but concentrated all the important things in just 59 pages.

This book is great both for newbies that want to start earning money with their website or blog and for successful web entrepreneurs that already do this, to improve their skills.

There are a lot of tips about link baiting, website monetization ideas, content writing, branding and more.

Try harder

Last Friday i went to a restaurant and it happened that a girl i was with knew the owner and i spoke with him. He came from a family that couldn’t offer him everything that he wanted, so he had to grab it by himself. Usually, people like him get a usual job, with a low wage and they only afford to pay the rent, get something to eat and never have fun and not because they would not like to live a good life, with everything they need, but they do not have the ambition and don’t have faith in themselves. This is their biggest mistake, faith, faith in themselves. If you are like them, think twice, you only have a life and you have to enjoy it.

The one i’m talking about has both faith in himself and ambition and he is having a great life, with everything he needs. Along with working and managing his businesses he always has a good time with friends and enjoys life. But he can afford this because he worked harder, found alternatives and seized the opportunities.

In rich countries it’s enough to finish a school, highschool and university to get a good job, but the system out communities follow offers you both time and money at a higher age, so you can’t enjoy well all your life. So you have to think well and take measures, i will definitely do.

Also, if you think at something that will earn you more money than the thing you like to do, think twice, because this means you wouldn’t enjoy doing it and it will make you live your life by doing unpleasant things. You have to live your life by doing things you like.
