One of the advices I give to people that ask me is to write much quality content for their blogs and they ask me why should they spend time writing instead of promoting. Well, the most say that content is good for search engines, but they still prefer to spend their time on promotion.
Among that, if you write a few posts a day, not much ( and i will say later why ), you will get your subscribers to read your blog, which means you get visitors. I don’t say promotion is not good, but it is better to update your blog with good content than doing link exchange and submit to directories. You have to spend your time both to write content and promote, because even if you get visitors, if they find old, uninteresting content, they leave. So, keep in mind, writing content with a blog with subscriber and not necessarily means getting visitors.

so true, sandossu… you just have to arrange both tasks and writing like 2 articles a day shouldn’t be a big problem while doing some promotional work

Correct. From what I’ve read , everybody recommends building first a good amount of quality posts, maybe 2-3 a day and that start promoting. That way when someone starts reading your blog he will have what to read. If you promote your blog right away and you have only 5 posts why should the reader stick around ? He will probably read once, come back the next day and if nothing new is posted he’s gone.

Great advice. I found you on the John Chow blog and I liked your comment about the scammy web 2.0 site.
It is true - you need to update your blog regularly. I stopped visiting a lot of blogs because I was tired of visiting and finding they hadn’t posted a thing for several days.

This is a great advice for the bloggers out there that focusing much on the promotion but has a little content on their blog. How will you promote something when there is nothing sensible on your blog?!? How will you get other bloggers and readers to keep on coming back if there is nothing interesting to come back?!?

How much content do you think is a good amount to write each day?

I agree that you have to have consistent new content for your blog. There have been plenty of site where I have deleted their feed from my reader because there was no updates. Everytime I looked at the feed it was the same list of posts. If you aren’t going to feed me, I’m going to move on to where the food is.

Both link building and article writing are good. You can’t have good serach engine ranking using only ome of this too.
Therefore, it’s important to update your site as much as possible and also increase the link building everytime you get the chance.
