Wordpress has released a new version, but there aren’t new features in it, only 30 bug fixes and a few improves. Anyway, it is recommended to upgrade to be sure you don’t have any trouble with the bugs in 2.1.

I have installed a few Wordpress Plugins, Will it effect them, If I upgrade to newer version ?
