2 Gigabytes of private data released by AOL

Posted on 11 August 2006

Last days, AOL has released the web queries from about 650,000 users. There are about 20 million queries.

The 439mb archive can be downloaded from a mirror website, here. Uncompressed it has more than 2 GigaBytes.

The data includes personal names, addresses, social security numbers and everything else someone might type into a search box and it has been released without the users permissions. This will surely lower AOL’s credibility.
