How to increase your page CTR with adsense

Posted on 20 July 2006

Who wouldn`t like to increase he`s adsense CTR ? Because a lot of people are starting new threads on how to increase the CTR, i will try to make a short, easy tutorial for this.

First, you shouldn`t build a website just for adsense, so it shouldn`t be full of ads.

To increase your CTR you have to place ads in the header, menu or main content.

About the ads in the header, there should be a LeaderBoard ( 728*90 ), only if you are desperate for a higher CTR, because this is very big and on top of the website and makes it look ugly.

The menu ads should have the same font, size and colour with the menu, to fit with it. Also they have to be link ads. But take care, don`t try to foul the visitor to click them as they were a menu.

The content ads has to fit with the content, as they are part of it. They must be placed in center or on sides of the content or under titles, subtitles. Take care, the titles/subtitles shouldn`t  be something like ‘friends links’, ‘click here’, because this breaks the adsense ToS.

That would be all about ad placing. Also keep in mind, you have to make the ads fit with your website and don`t try to foul the visitor to click them.

Nice Article. Even though my site has good visits and has links from numerous sites its CTR is pretty bad. It is difficult to get people click if you are running the ads in a decent fashion not tricking them to click ads (that would not be ethical though). If someone does that pretty soon they will have a fuming lot of visitors.
